One can never have too many Dave's

Too Many Daves BY THEODOR GEISEL Did I ever tell you that Mrs. McCave Had twenty-three sons and she named them all Dave? Well, she did. And that wasn't a smart thing to do. You see, when she wants one and calls out, "Yoo-Hoo! Come into the house, Dave!" she doesn't get one. All twenty-three Daves of hers come on the run! This makes things quite difficult at the McCaves' As you can imagine, with so many Daves. And often she wishes that, when they were born, She had named one of them Bodkin Van Horn And one of them Hoos-Foos. And one of them Snimm. And one of them Hot-Shot. And one Sunny Jim. And one of them Shadrack. And one of them Blinkey. And one of them Stuffy. And one of them Stinkey. Another one Putt-Putt. Another one Moon Face. Another one Marvin O'Gravel Balloon Face. And one of them Ziggy. And one Soggy Muff. One Buffalo Bill. And one Biffalo Buff. And one of them Sneepy. And one Weepy Weed. And one Paris Garters. And one Harris Tweed. And one of them Sir Michael Carmichael Zutt And one of them Oliver Boliver Butt And one of them Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate ... But she didn't do it. And now it's too late. can you imagine how crazy the house would have been if I had 23 Uncle Dave's, but I only Have Two and now One's with You the one you decided you needed back was like David and Goliath he never backed down from a Fight and his opponent took to flight from here to Thailand only to realize that he would meet his match again one day.

dear ole Uncle Dave

its been almost 2 months since we said goodbye you told me not to cry though I ask myself why when all I do is cry. you sent an angel in the form of two of your Favorite Animals. the first being a cat and the second being a Squirrel whom we have named Dave because like you he sits on the feeder and won;'t let anyone else eat (only you sat on your toy box) I fell asleep one night and there you were in my dreams looking at me and smiling saying its alright, things will work out. funny part is since that night work has not stopped In Fact the very next day I was offered a Maternity leave if she did not find an actual teacher. God took you too soon but he knew better than I that your job was done. Thank you for all you gave us you were Smarter than most Taught me all the Math I know (well dad helped) and that is more than Most. You knew when to give support and when to back away and let me grow. you were a dad when Dad was not there. you cared when others did not care. you gave when others would not. you had faith in me that I would Graduate when others maybe had none. So here is to you Dave the most thoughtful person anyone could ever know now off I go to scold a kitty who is lots like charlie with a bit o cammie mixed in fore she is eating the grass o what silly lass that there cat is.

Dave the Brother who sat on Toy boxes

I remember being told about Dave sitting on his Toy box because he did not want anyone else to play with his toys. Well I think he has come back as a Squirrel as we have one that I have Named Dave because of this. Dave the Squirrel sits and eats all the food then when someone else comes to eat he chases them away then jumps back up on to the feeder to guard it just like Dave sitting on his Toy box so that no one else can play wiht his Toys. hence why I have named him Dave the Squirrel here is a picture of good ole Dave the Squirrel

I think this song says how we all Feel about Dave and especially the Relationship that he built with Charlie that cat knew No matter what that he could always count on Dave to bring him down though the house and put him in the Gigantic Dog House that we had for the cats to sleep in.   That cat loved Dave to the end of his life and Now two friends have been Reunited In heaven.    


One Memory I love and still laugh at is one time both Cammie and charlie had gone up on the balcony and Dave could not carry both cats so I Went up and helped him carry Cammie down.  Well we got down to the cats box opened up the the box and Dave goes "well Charlie is already in the box"  I quietly said "Dave your holding charlie"  and he goes "oh yeah your right"   It was a baby skunk who had decided to eat the rest of their food needless to say the cats stayed in the laundry room until the skunk left.   Mom and dad were gone and Dave told me "don;t tell your mom we had to put the cats in the laundry room"   but  I am glad that we did or they would have gotten sprayed and us as well.

This is my first post here, this is a blog where I hope to channel all our memories about Dave into a memory book of stories about him. I thought about sharing some of my own memories to start out and anyone else can add their Memories in comments and I can copy and past them. The earliest Memory I have of Uncle Dave is this. We were all back here In Illinois for a Family Reunion. Trish and Dave Still had their pool and I think either Steve or Dave Walter was blowing up a float y toy for the pool and dave H laid on top of the almost full of air toy, well me being so young I did not understand that he was only teasing and hit him kinda hard well I made him say OW and I got in trouble for it and when I had calmed down I remember someone made me say Sorry but I did not feel very sorry cause I thought he was trying to Ruin our fun. Another Memory I have of Dave is when My dad decided to sit on the arm of the Chair my mom was sitting on and they fell backward. Well my mom could not roll to the left because there was my dad she could not roll to her right and get out cause there was a magazine rack. so there I was trying my hardest to keep a nice face and not laugh and all the while yelling at the top of my lungs for Dave he peeked over the rail and said what is the matter what's the matter. I just said just get down here and you will see why. So he came downstairs and when he go to the second set of stairs he started laughing cause he could finally see what had happened. He came and helped me get dad up and on his feet and then we helped mom get to her feet. I don;t think I will ever forget this as it was just too funny.
